Parallel paths are where the big tones live, and where they usually fall apart. Blend two cabinets, stack a dry path, split into delay and reverb lanes, and the moment two signals meet out of time or out of polarity, the low end hollows into mud and comb-filter fizz. Crosswire aligns every merge automatically, timing and polarity both, so stacked paths only ever add.
Same riff, same amp, same two cabinets. One impulse response arrives 1.1 ms late and polarity-flipped, the everyday parallel accident. Both clips rendered by the actual Crosswire engine and loudness-matched; only Align Lanes differs.
Hit Randomize and Crosswire builds a complete rig on the spot: amp, cabinet, effects and the wiring between them, ready to play. Audition rigs until one grabs you, then tweak every knob, swap every cable, until it sounds exactly like you. Nothing is locked. Every roll is a starting point you can rewire.

A few nodes analyze instead of processing. BEAT finds your tempo and taps out the hits inside a chosen frequency band. CHORD latches whatever you strum. ENV rides your pick attack. Wire their outputs into drums, oscillators and effect knobs, and the patch starts reacting to how you play.

Under every patch is a small real-time engine with strict rules. These are the four that decide how Crosswire behaves on a gig, and the numbers they produce.
Once sound is running, the render loop never allocates memory and never waits on a lock. Every audio block is plain arithmetic on buffers prepared in advance. That discipline is why patch edits, preset changes and effect toggles stay click-free while the signal is live, and why a four-hour set behaves like the first five minutes.
The graph carries a sample-exact delay figure down every branch. Where parallel lanes meet, the engine lines them up in time and polarity before the mix, so stacked cabinets and wet/dry splits reinforce instead of comb-filtering. The convolution cabinet stage adds zero samples of its own on top.
Any patch collapses to a Rig Seed, and a seed rebuilds its rig exactly: wiring, knob values, amp and cabinet choices. The same engine also renders offline from the command line, which is how we fingerprint and regression-test every factory rig before it ships. A tone you can print twice is a tone you can trust.
The standalone app, the VST3 and CLAP plugins, the terminal interface and the offline reamp tool share one DSP core. A Rig Seed recalls the same rig, with the same sound, in each of them. Nothing here is a port of the "real" version.
